Letter of call for works of the Second Drone Vision Contest of the Both Sides Across Taiwan Strait, Hong Kong & Macao in 2018

To all teams and enthusiasts of aerial photography:

With the approval of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, the "Second Drone Vision Contest of the both sides across Taiwan Strait, Hong Kong & Macao" jointly organized by the China Association For Promotion of Culture and the China Association of Remote Sensing Application, under the guidance of the China TV Artists Association, has officially launched and is widely soliciting works. This contest, with the theme of "40 Years of Glorious Footprints", collects aerial photography works from both sides of the Taiwan Straits and Hong Kong and Macao In this contest, in addition to the "broad collection, targeted invitation, and timed creation" approach used in the first contest, this year's contest has added a new element of "online voting". The combination of "online voting + expert evaluation" will allow the contest to select the "Top 30 Excellent Drone Vision Team of the Cross Strait and Hong Kong Macao UAV" in the preliminary round. In terms of the final of this contest, based on online selection, expert review and directional invitation, 40 outstanding UAV aerial photography teams from both sides of the Taiwan Straits and Hong Kong and Macao would focus on the limited time film and television works creation contest, competing for 12 awards including the best works. The contest organizing committee sincerely invites all aerial photography teams and enthusiasts to participate in this contest. Related matters are hereby notified as follows: 

I. Preliminary entry requirements

This contest encourages participants to create works around the theme of "40 Years of Glorious Footprints". The subjects of the entries are divided into three categories: humanity, landscape and industry; The locations of the entries are not limited, but they must be legal and in non-military or dangerous areas. It shall be ensured that the usage of others' works is not related to the disputes of intellectual property rights. It is appropriate for the works' duration of 3-5 minutes. The aerial photography shot shall account for over 60% of the whole film, and the materials of the original shot shall account for no less than 50% of the whole film; The work's editing, background music, trick effects and other editing measures shall be listed as the items of review. The work can be appropriately rendered, but the main content and elements of the picture shall not be altered. The work has a resolution of 1080p or higher, with a 16:9 frame and an MP4 format video.   The work shall not include watermarks. The information of the main creator shall be in line with that of the register, and the information shall only appear at the end of the film, with no contact information of the creator.

II. Registration and submission

complete the attached entry form and copyright commitment, and send the works together with the entries to the Organizing committee email box: DVC@auvsc.com. Fill in the attached form and provide the information to download the web disk together with the email, which will be downloaded and reviewed by the staff.

The deadline of registration is November 18, 2018. 

III. Preliminary appraisal

The contest will collect entries through professional channels and media promotion. After being reviewed by the organizing committee, the selected works will be displayed on the official website and official WeChat account of the contest. From November 22 to November 29, all displayed entries will be voted on by the public through the internet and mobile terminals. The top 30 aerial photography teams will be ranked based on the number of votes received (weighted at 40%). The judging panel of experts will also evaluate the entries based on their technical and artistic merits, and the expert evaluation ranking will be weighted at 60%. It has comprehensive evaluation, which determines the "Top 30 Excellent Drone Vision Team for the Second Cross Taiwan Strait and Hong Kong & Macao UAV in 2018."

IV. The final stage of the contest will include material collection, timed creation, judging by the panel of experts, and a grand award ceremony for the winners.

V. Miscellaneous

This contest does not charge any registration fees, participation fees, or exhibition fees. The organizing committee entrusted Shenzhen Tengyun UAV Aviation Academy to hold two UAV license classes and aerial photography creation improvement classes of Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) for the sake of continuing to popularize aerial photography creation technology, improve the quality of contest works, legal and compliant flight, combined with the actual situation of the contest. A basic cost fee below market rates will be charged for this course.
