Letter of Call for Works of the Third Drone Vision Contest of the Both Sides Across Taiwan Strait, Hong Kong & Macao in 2020

It is planned that the 3rd Drone Vision Contest of the Both Sides Across Taiwan Strait, Hong Kong & Macao will be held in Shenzhen in the middle or the last ten days of September of 2020 (the specific date shall be subject to further notice). 

 

To all teams and enthusiasts of aerial photography:

Up to now, the Drone Vision Contest of the Both Sides Across Taiwan Strait, Hong Kong & Macao has been successfully held for two times. Taking "Overlooking Shenzhen, Glorious Future" and "40 Years of Glorious Footprints" as the themes, the first two contests, through selection and targeted invitation, gathered 20 professional teams of drone aerial photography from the mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao to conduct the creation of aerial photography in Shenzhen. The judging panel composed of top-level specialists in the field of drone aerial photography and the art of the film and television, coming from both sides of the Taiwan Straits, Hong Kong and Macao, selected five team awards of the Gold Award, Silver Award, Bronze Award, Network Popularity Award, and Media Attention Award, as well as four individual awards of the Best Scriptwriter Award, Best Drone Flyer Award, Best Editing Award and Best Gimbal Winner.

It is planned that the Third Drone Vision Contest of the Both Sides Across Taiwan Strait, Hong Kong & Macao will be held in September of 2020 (the specific date shall be subject to further notice). The notification of the contest's work collection and relevant matters is hereby given as follows:

I. Requirement on teams of participation

(I) The teams that participate in the contest shall fill in the Table of Work Declaration and Letter of Copyright Commitment.

(II) The teams that participate in the contest shall independently prepare the equipment of aerial photography and equipment of production and editing.

(III) The drone flyers of the teams that participate in the contest shall own the corresponding qualification certificate recognized by the Executive Committee of the contest.

(IV) The members of the teams that participate in the contest shall have a good physical condition and observe laws and regulations, with no record of delinquency.

(V) The number of the team member shall be 2-3. A team leader shall be set for each team, and the leader shall be responsible for communication with the Organizing Committee of the contest and the Security Group of Flying, as well as the overall arrangement of the team. Only one name shall be used by the team, which shall not be altered after formal registration after passing the qualifier.

(VI) The team member shall not be arbitrarily added or altered after the team passes the selection for registration, and the place to participate the contest shall not be transferred to others. If the competitor can't attend the contest due to special reasons, the competitor shall promptly communicate with the Organizing Committee, and the team may attend the contest with insufficient members based on the approval of the Organizing Committee. However, the number of members shall be no less than 2, otherwise it shall be deemed as giving up attending the contest.

II. Requirement on collected work

(I) Contest theme

The theme of this contest is "Home".

The home doesn't stand for a building or the house with people living in it. When you step on the long journey and turn back to look into the distance, home is always the clearest and brightest point. When you are young, home is an umbrella that takes care of you to make you grow up and give you power. When you become an adult, home turns to be a firm and comfortable chair, which can be sat by you when you are tired, so that you can have a break. The home will never abandon you when you are failed and no one wants to accept you. When you are old, home can be your final residence. It can take care of you with the concern of your offspring and make you enjoy your remaining years.

(II) Requirement on content of work

The content of works in this contest shall be based on the theme of the contest, in combination with thoughts and stories. It shall not only show the technical feature of drone aerial photography, but also find something that can touch and move our spirit through the lens of drone aerial photography. The content shall conform to the cultural orientation of mainstream values, spread a healthy and upward attitude and philosophy, and reflect Chinese culture. It shall promote the spirit of Chinese aesthetics, and meet the organic unity of ideological, artistic, and ornamental aspects.

The form, theme and shooting location of the works is not limited. However, the photographer shall observe laws and regulations in terms of content, theme and shooting location, and shall not involve sensitive contents or refer to sensitive fields.

The works of the contest shall be innovative in terms of ways to present and methods of creation.

It is appropriate for the works' duration of 3-5 minutes. The aerial photography shot shall account for over 60% of the whole film, and the materials of the original shot shall account for no less than 60% of the whole film. The work's editing, background music, trick effects and other editing measures shall be listed as the items of review. The work can be appropriately rendered, but the main content and elements of the picture shall not be altered. It shall be ensured that the usage of others' works is not related to the disputes of intellectual property rights. The work shall have a resolution of 1080p or higher, with a 16:9 frame and an MP4 format.  The work shall not include watermarks. The information of the main creator shall be in line with that of the register, and the information shall only appear at the end of the film, with no contact information of the creator.

III. Preliminary contest work submission

The aerial photography teams coming from both sides of the Taiwan Straits, Hong Kong and Macao shall fully fill the Table of Work Declaration and Letter of Copyright Commitment during the process of registration, and submit them with the disc containing the data of the work to the email address of the Organizing Committee to collect works: DVC@auvsc.com.  The teams can also fill the table as the attachment of this letter and provide the information of the network disc for downloading in the form of sending the email for the staff to approve and upload to the official website of the contest for publicity.

Registration deadline: September 8, 2020

IV. Course, system and schedule

In view of the normalized trend of Covid-19 prevention and control and relevant requirements, to properly hold the Drone Vision Contest of the Both Sides Across Taiwan Strait, Hong Kong & Macao and better reflect the contest's concept of "technology + art", the concept of the Internet "cloud" is integrated into the whole process including the launching ceremony, online collection and voting, 72-hour creation in the final, award ceremony, etc. The unique form of cloud launch, cloud voting, cloud judgement, cloud release, cloud final and cloud awarding is adopted to communicate the whole process online to broadcast the Drone Vision Contest of the Both Sides Across Taiwan Strait, Hong Kong & Macao, and the significance of the contest and the values of participation, works, appeal of the brand influence of creators of aerial photography and short videos are combined in a closer way. The contest will be carried out in two stages. The preliminary contest will be conducted in the first stage to select or invite 20 teams to attend the final.

  • Stage of preliminary contest (cloud launch): August 8, 2020 to September 8, 2020: online voting + specialist appraisal.
    The works will be collected through the publicity of professional channels and media, and plenty of audiences will vote for the works online or through mobile terminals. 30 excellent drone aerial photography teams will be selected in accordance with the vote number. 15 teams will be selected by specialists from the 30 teams to enter the final stage.
  • News release (cloud release): All selected teams shall record the personalized short video before September 16, 2020

Which will be edited by the Organizing Committee to make a vivid and fantastic short film that will be released in the online press conference.

  • Stage of 72-hour creation in the final (cloud final): During the period from September 22, 2020 to September 24, 2020

The 20 teams invited or selected by the cloud selection from the preliminary contest will draw materials and create works within 72 limited hours, combine with the designated materials offered by the Organizing Committee to create the work in line with the contest's requirement and submit the work within 72 hours.

  • Stage of specialist review and selection (cloud review): September 25, 2020, Location:
    The main venue will be set in the Dapeng New District of Shenzhen (for judges in Guangdong), and other judges will participate in the review in their places through video calls.
  • Award ceremony (cloud awarding): September 26, 2020, Location:
    The main venue will be set in the Dapeng New District of Shenzhen (for judges in Guangdong), and other judges will participate in the review in their places through video calls.
    Representative teams, judges, award presenters, part of journalists of Guangdong will be organized to participate the contest in the Dapeng New District. Other judges, teams, and journalists from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan will attend the award ceremony through video calls, and award certificates and trophies will be mailed later.

V. Miscellaneous

(I) The registration of all teams to attend the contest will be free, and the presentation of works and teams' performance will also be free.

(II) The concrete date and location of the final shall be subject to the information published by the Organizing Committee, and the latest notification of the Organizing Committee shall prevail in case of adverse weathers that are not suitable for drone's flying.

(III) The Organizing Committee of the contest buys the commercial accident insurance for the contest. However, competitors shall bear the damage incurred by their violation of the provisions of the Organizing Committee or personal intention, as well as the legal dispute caused therefrom.

(IV) Other detailed rules shall be subject to the on-site notification of the Organizing Committee.
